New Music Roundup – EDM

Welcome to Not in Harmony! Your future #1 spot for all things music – reviews, videos, news, etc.

I’m a lover of so many different genres, so I refuse to limit this blog to one style! Hopefully you’ll find something you like here.

Kicking off the first blog post is your weekly ‘New Music Roundup’ starting with some of the hottest, new EDM songs as FESTIVAL SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

The Chainsmokers – You Owe Me

Is it too soon to say they’re back? After going noticeably pop with their last album, it seems The Chainsmokers are returning with that creativity that they started out with. Back in the ‘Closer’ days, I wasn’t 100% sure I loved Drew being the lead singer on a bunch of their songs, but the lyrics of this and their last release, ‘Sick Boy’, fall into the raw and personal category, so it would only make sense for one of these two to be singing about their lives. Sounds a little to me like fame hasn’t been all it’s chalked up to be for them. Anyone else hearing that from these lyrics?

David Guetta, Martin Garrix and Brooks – Like I Do

After absolutely crushing their last release, ‘So Far Away’, David Guetta and Martin Garrix are back for another collab with a little help from Brooks. Does this mean we have a potential, joint album on the way? Anyway, this is one of those tracks that Garrix has teased at his live shows, which explains why I immediately recognized it upon first listen. Overall, the song is exactly what you would expect from these superstars. This track is a little lighter on the lyrics than ‘So Far Away’, but packs a heavier beat in my opinion. Personally, ‘Like I Do’ leaves me a little underwhelmed, but that’s not to say it won’t be a grower. Both of these artists always kill their live shows, so I’m confident they’ll put that touch on it in their performances.

DJ Snake – Magenta Riddim

YES. Just yes. Classic DJ Snake. This songs gives off heavy DJ Snake vibes in the best way possible. Without reading the title, fans could easily guess the artist behind this. Some DJ’s repeatedly try to replicate their signature sound, and the results can often sound like the same song over and over, but DJ Snake is killer at putting his touch on his tracks, while still making them stand out. For me, I’m totally feeling the essentially lyric-less song as DJ Snake makes a return to his dance-focused days.

Steve Aoki, Daddy Yankee, Play N Skillz, & Elvis Crespo – Azukita

Honestly a huge fan of this one. I always tend to love the this style of music, so I’m immediately drawn to this track. Although I haven’t always been the biggest Steve Aoki supporter, and haven’t personally been feeling his last few releases as he tries a little harder to venture into the pop world with his collaborations, this one gives me banger vibes. I’m already picturing a Vegas pool party with a crazy smoke and light display to really drive this one home. Also worth noting that Daddy Yankee has been murdering his features since ‘Despacito’ and he’s become a fairly sought out collaborator.
